START KEELBOAT SAILING INSTRUCTOR – SMALL BOAT

Offers a course for candidates with limited experience on keelboats more than 8 meters.

START KEELBOAT SAILING – SMALL BOAT INSTRUCTOR STANDARD

 

START KEELBOAT SAILING INSTRUCTOR

The focus of a course leading to this Standard is on the development of lesson planning and teaching skills using a keelboat as a primary teaching aid. Candidates who successfully complete this standard will be able to conduct courses leading to the Introduction to Boating (sail) and Start Keelboat Sailing standards and certify students achieving these standards.

START KEELBOAT SAILING INSTRUCTOR STANDARD

 

BASIC CRUISING INSTRUCTOR

The focus of a course leading to the Basic Cruising Instructor Standard is on the development of lesson planning and teaching skills using a keelboat as a primary teaching aid. Candidates will have the opportunity to practice and refine their ability to deliver training in the classroom and on water environments. Candidate sailing skills will be evaluated. On completion of this standard, successful candidates will be able to conduct courses leading to the Introduction to Boating(sail), Start Keelboat Sailing and Basic Cruising Standards and award these student level certifications.

BASIC CRUISING INSTRUCTOR STANDARD

 

CATAMARAN INSTRUCTOR

Open to Basic Cruising Instructors, this standard develops the knowledge and ability to deliver training on cruising catamarans at the Basic Cruising and Intermediate Cruising levels.

CRUISING CATAMARAN INSTRUCTOR

 

BASIC KEELBOAT RACING INSTRUCTOR

Open to all Cruising Instructors by application. Approved Instructors will be able to certify candidates at the Basic Keelboat Racing level.

BASIC KEELBOAT RACING INSTRUCTOR STANDARD

 

KEELBOAT SPINNAKER INSTRUCTOR

Prepare to teach the use of a range of spinnaker types and flying sails. It is envisioned that this Standard is implemented in one day (8 hours) with a minimum 4-hour afloat session.

KEELBOAT SPINNAKER INSTRUCTOR STANDARD

 

INTERMEDIATE CRUISING INSTRUCTOR

Candidates who successfully complete this course will be able to certify candidates at the Intermediate Cruising level. This course, open to Basic Cruising Instructors, focuses on the classroom and on water delivery and evaluation of boat systems knowledge and sailboat handling skills needed to operate a vessel in a near-coastal environment.

INTERMEDIATE CRUISING INSTRUCTOR STANDARD

 

ADVANCED CRUISING INSTRUCTOR

Candidates who successfully complete this course will be able to certify candidates at the Advanced Cruising level. This course, open to Intermediate Cruising Instructors, focuses on the classroom and on water delivery and evaluation of knowledge and skills required to operate a vessel in any conditions day and night up to 100 miles offshore.

ADVANCED CRUISING INSTRUCTOR STANDARD

 

OFFSHORE CRUISING INSTRUCTOR

Candidates who successfully complete this course will be able to certify candidates at the Offshore Crew and Offshore Cruising levels. This course, open to Advanced Cruising Instructors, focuses on the delivery and evaluation of knowledge and skills required to make long-distance ocean passages in sailing vessels.

INSTRUCTOR EVALUATORS

BASIC INSTRUCTOR EVALUATOR

Candidates who successfully complete this course are authorized to co-conduct at any Instructor Development Program so long as the IE is certified to certify students at the instructor level to be certified and the IE has taught a minimum of two (2) student-level courses at that level provided they are currently registered with Sail Canada.

BASIC INSTRUCTOR EVALUATOR STANDARD

 

SENIOR INSTRUCTOR EVALUATOR

Candidates who successfully complete this course are authorized to be the lead conductor at any Instructor Development Program so long as the IE is certified to certify students at the instructor level to be certified and the IE has taught a minimum of two (2) student-level courses at that level provided they are currently registered with Sail Canada.
