Antonia and Georgia Lewin-LaFrance from Chester, N.S., won the gold medal in 49erFX at the 2025 49er, 49erFX and Nacra 17 European Championships which ended on Sunday in Thessaloniki, GRE.

This is the second consecutive podium performance for Antonia and Georgia Lewin-LaFrance. At the second Sailing Grand Slam Series event of the season, French Olympic Week, held at the end of April in Hyères, FRA, the Canadian sailors won the bronze medal.

"It feels amazing," said Antonia and Georgia Lewin-LaFrance. "It`s our first win at a major event, so we`re feeling quite happy. But we also know that there`s a lot of work to do for LA 2028."

Antonia et Georgia Lewin-LaFrance de Chester, en N.-É., ont remporté la médaille d`or en 49erFX lors des Championnats européens en 49er, 49erFX et Nacra 17 2025 qui se sont terminés dimanche à Thessaloniki, en Grèce.

C`est la deuxième fois de suite qu`Antonia et Georgia Lewin-LaFrance montent sur le podium. Lors de la deuxième épreuve de la saison des Grand Slam Series en voile, la Semaine olympique française qui s`est déroulée à la fin du mois d’avril à Hyères (FRA), les athlètes canadiennes ont remporté la médaille de bronze.

« C`est incroyable », ont déclaré Antonia et Georgia Lewin-LaFrance. « C`est notre première victoire lors d`un événement majeur, et nous sommes donc très heureuses. Mais nous savons aussi qu`il y a beaucoup de travail à faire en vue de LA 2028 ».

Antonia and Georgia Lewin-LaFrance are currently in 1st place in 49erFX at the 2025 49er, 49erFX and Nacra 17 European Championships in Thessaloniki, GRE.

Saturday, they recorded 1st and 4th positions.

With one more race to go before the Medal Race, both of which to take place on Sunday, the Lewin-LaFrance sisters have 61 points, ahead of a Polish team by 2 points and a German team by 3 points.

Four Canadians took part in the 2025 Optimist European Championships held May 30-June 3 in Çeşme, Izmir, Turkey. Tia Kinnear was the best Canadian with a 70th-place finish in the girls` event, while Ming Trebilcock took the 75th place out of 115 sailors. On the boys` side, Harris He and Kevin Kuan Liu took the 103rd and 141st place respectively out of 141 sailors.

Quatre Canadiens ont participé aux Championnats européens en Optimist 2025 qui se sont déroulés du 30 mai au 3 juin à Çeşme, Izmir, en Turquie. Tia Kinnear a été la meilleure Canadienne avec une 70e place chez les filles, tandis que Ming Trebilcock a pris la 75e place sur 115 athlètes.
