PROGRAM PARTICIPANT REPORTING

Checklick

The Checklick system is used by Sail Canada and Provincial Sailing Associations to capture student information and track progress through levels. All clubs and schools are asked to use this system to report students. Using the system ensures that student records are maintained at a national level. This allows Sail Canada and PSAs to look at participation in programs on a national scale and use the information to help adjust programs and develop new ones to meet the market needs.

Benefits of Checklick

  • Track participants on a national scale
    • Start or continue an evaluation for participants across Canada, regardless of where or when they started
  • Never lose track of participant progress or history
    • Completed and in-progress levels are stored indefinitely for each participant – return to an in-progress level months or even years later
  • Evaluate participants on multiple checklists simultaneously
    • Track participants as they progress through dinghy, keelboat, windsurfing levels and more
  • Direct access to completed and in-progress levels for participants
    • Participants can view their completed and in-progress levels through their Checklick profiles, ensuring they register for the correct sailing program each year

Q: What are the participant fees?
A: See below for program participant fees:

  • Sailing Program Checklists: There is a small annual participant fee based on use of a Sail Canada checklist. Participant fees are set by each Province and are charged once per participant per year based on activity in a checklist (marked in-progress/complete, checklist items completed, comments added etc.). Please check with your Provincial Sailing Association for your province’s annual participant fee.
Note: There is no base fee for using Checklick, any paid fees are solely participant fees.
  • Pleasure Craft Operator Cards: Total cost per PCOC submission is $25 + HST, and includes a Student temporary certificate, Student PCOC card and delivery, and Student record data management. More information on PCOC submissions HERE.
Note: There is no base fee for using Checklick, any paid fees are solely submission fees.

CANSail 1.0 and CANSail 2.0 Q&As

Q: I don’t have access to past CANSail evaluations
A: CANSail evaluations completed prior to June 4, 2025 are available in the CANSail 1.0 Checklists. Follow the Checklist licensing steps for CANSail 1.0 to regain access to these past evaluations. Please note: CANSail 1.0 evaluations are for viewing/downloading only. All continuing/new evaluations should be completed in CANSail 2.0.

Q: I don’t see CANSail 2.0 available through my Province in the Checklist Marketplace
A: If you have a pending license request for a checklist or if you have a license that has expired, you will first have to withdraw the pending request or remove the expired license.
Example: If you have accidentally requested a CANSail 2.0 license from Alberta Sailing but are located in Ontario, you will not be able to see the CANSail 2.0 license from Ontario Sailing until you withdraw your pending request from Alberta Sailing.
