Athlete Bio

Olivia Mew has always been drawn to water sports. Before sailing competitively, she competed nationally in sprint canoe and won provincial titles in C-1, C-2, C-4 and C-15. After a bad wrist injury, Mew took up windsurfing at the age of 15. Mew first competed in the Techno 293 windsurfing class, winning the U19 United States national title in 2011. In 2012, she started competing in the RS:X class. Her first major event was the 2012 RS:X Youth World Championships in Taiwan, where she placed 22nd.  Since 2015, Mew has won four Canadian titles in the RS:X. In 2016, she posted an impressive fourth-place finish in the RS:X at the World Cup in Weymouth, England. Mew represents Queens University in intercollegiate 420 dinghy sailing. In 2019, Olivia represented Canada in the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, where she finished 6th place.
