Athlete Bio
Jackie Gay has been involved in paralympic sailing since 2006. She crewed in the Skud 18 class for GBR before moving to Canada and competing with her husband John. John and Jackie’s partnership achieved multiple World Cup podium finishes, two Sail Canada ‘Team of the Year’ awards, and culminated in a silver medal at the Rio Paralympic Games. Since 2016 Jackie has been sailing single handed in the 2.4mR and in 2019 she came 7th in the Para World Championships, the highest finish for any Canadian and top female sailor. She continues to race locally, nationally and internationally and has been accepted as the first woman with a disability to sail as a mile-builder on Maiden.
