Sail Canada Welcomes New Chair

It is with great pleasure that Sail Canada introduces it’s newest Chair of the Board of Directors, Hugh McGugan.

Hugh has served as a Director on the Sail Canada Board since 2013, leading the organization’s efforts in the re-creation and roll-out of Sail Canada’s Strategic Plan. He was also a part of the Sail Canada Governance Committee for the past five years, including taking on the role of Secretary and Governance Committee Chair for the past year.

In addition to being an active offshore and one-design sailor in the J/80, J-24, Kirby-25 and Etchells classes for many years, Hugh has volunteered in a variety of sailing and other local community activities including; youth outdoor hockey league coaching , Youth Race team lead & Sail Training Director at Nepean Sailing Club and Club judge and regatta safety volunteer roles.

His passion for sailing and collaborative approach in working with the Board and others is a tremendous asset for Sail Canada.
