Introducing the 2021 Coach Professional Seminar Series

 

Sail Canada is happy to announce a 3 part seminar series aimed at giving performance coaches different perspectives on identified coaching GAPs in our system. Each seminar will be a maximum of 45 minutes, with a 20-30 minute presentation at the beginning followed by Q & A.

Topic 1- Instilling a winning culture in your team
Date: January 28 at 11:00 am EST
Presenter: Damian Jennings, Head Coach Women’s Basketball, University of Calgary
Bio: Damian is currently the University of Calgary Women’s basketball head coach, he has been in this role since 2012. In addition, Damian has also been involved with Great Britain Basketball since its inception in 2006, coaching in more than 110 games to date for Britain. Alongside being the Assistant Coach to the Senior Great Britain Women’s team in the build up to London 2012 he was the Head Coach of the U20 program, winning the European title and was named eurobasket.com coach of the European tournament. After being one of the Assistant Coach at London 2012 Olympics he was then appointed Head Coach of the Senior team and took them to the best ever finish by any Senior Great Britain basketball team. https://godinos.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/coaches/damian-jennings/900

Topic 2 – Efficient and Effective Debriefs

Presenter: Jack Hanratty, Head Coach of Rugby Canada’s U20 Women’s Team

Topic 3 – Fitness Monitoring – what to monitor and how to use it with your athletes
Date: March 11th at 1:00 pm EST
Presenter: Sheldon Persad, Senior Advisor CSIO
Bio: Sheldon has been involved in sport performance for over 21 years and has worked with the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (formerly the Canadian Sport Centre) in the capacities of Lead S&C, Lead Sport Science, Manager Performance Services, Director Sport Science and Sport Medicine, Director Performance Services, and is currently a Senior Advisor. As an S&C coach, his experience includes working with athletes who have competed at world championships, the Commonwealth Games, the Pan-American games, and the Olympics (summer and winter) from close to two dozen different national team programs. Sheldon currently works with the Sail Canada CST athletes and is focused on providing the right support, input and guidance for these athletes to achieve their goals.
