The CANSail program is focused on building strong sailing skills in a safe, practical, and fun way! The program is based on the progressive development of fundamental sailing skills that can be applied to a variety of types of boats for people of all abilities.
Following feedback from key stakeholders, the CANSail program has undergone a full review. Revisions have been made to ensure that introductory levels are achievable, skills are adequately balanced across the levels, skills are applicable to a variety of learning environments, and are adaptable to the needs of different sailors. More detailed resources have also been developed to support Instructors as they deliver the program at clubs & schools across Canada!
The launch of CANSail 2.0 includes:
- Revised CANSail 1-6 Checklists – Now available to license in Checklick!
- Detailed CANSail 1-6 Key Performance Indicators (previously called rubrics)
- New CANSail 1-4 Instructor Packs – Including robust lesson plans for all checklist items, skill breakdowns, diagrams, and more!
Sailors who have achieved levels in the CANSail program prior to the launch of CANSail 2.0 will continue to work on their sailing skills and progress through the program as they were before. In-progress Checklists can be carried over to CANSail 2.0 so that sailors continue their training in 2025!
