Will Jones

Athlete Bio

Date of Birth: March 5, 1995

Will Jones was introduced to sailing by his dad who was the owner of a Laser sailboat at their cottage. During summer, he also took part in introductory courses and competed in his first regatta at age 13 in 2008 with his brother.

In 2015, after changing age groups, he decided to give the 49erFX a try and teamed up with Evan DePaul, who was also a young sailor and member of the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club.

The Canadian team switched to the 49er one year later, in 2016. In 2017, Jones and DePaul were crowned champions at the World Junior Championships in front of a home crowd, in Kingston, Ontario, and finished second at the North American Championships that year.

At the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Will Jones and his partner Evan DePaul took the 19th position in 49er at their first Games.

Will Jones graduated from Engineering at Queen’s University in 2017.
