Congratulations to Nathan Pearce who won the gold medal in the U17 category at the 2025 IKA Youth European Championship & Formula Kite Grand Prix 2025 held June 30-July 6 in Gizzeria, Italy.

Nathan Pearce finished first out of 14 U17 athletes, and was the only U17 sailor to qualify for the gold fleet.

In the overall ranking, including U17, U19 and U21 athletes, Nathan Pearce took the 21st position out of 43 participants.

On the women`s side, Claire Ramsey (U21), finished 12th out of 15 athletes.

Félicitations à Nathan Pearce qui a remporté la médaille d`or chez les M17 au Championnat européen en IKA et au Grand Prix en Formula Kite 2025 qui se sont déroulés du 30 juin au 6 juillet à Gizzeria, en Italie.

Nathan Pearce a terminé premier sur 14 athlètes de la catégorie M17, et a été le seul chez les M17 à se qualifier dans la flotte d`or.

Au classement général, incluant les M17, M19 et M21, Nathan Pearce a pris la 21e place sur 43 participants.

Chez les femmes, Claire Ramsey (M21) a terminé 12e sur 15 athlètes.

Will Keilty from Kingston, ON, placed 23rd overall out of 281 sailors at the 2025 Optimist World Championship, held June 26-July 5 at Portorož, SVN. This is the best Canadian performance in 43 years, Morten Fogh having placed 20th in 1982. In 2023, Sterling Ott finished 55th.

Through the nine races held throughout the competition, Will Keilty also recorded three top 10s, including winning the ninth and final race of the gold fleet. This is the first time ever a Canadian sailor has won a Gold Fleet race at the Optimist World Championship.

Will Keilty, de Kingston, en Ontario, a pris la 23e place au classement général sur 281 athlètes au Championnat du monde en Optimist 2025, qui s`est déroulé du 26 juin au 5 juillet à Portorož, en Slovénie. Il s`agit de la meilleure performance canadienne en 43 ans alors que Morten Fogh ayant pris la 20e place lors de l`édition de 1982. En 2023, Sterling Ott avait terminé au 55e rang.

Au cours des neuf courses présentée tout au long de la compétition, Will Keilty a également enregistré trois top 10, notamment en remportant la neuvième et dernière course de la flotte d`or. C`est la première fois qu`un athlète canadien remporte une course de la flotte or au Championnat du monde en Optimist.

La navigatrice en voile hauturière canadienne Melodie Schaffer fera une escale à la Coupe Fémina à Québec le samedi 5 juillet lors de son périple qui l’a vu partir de Toronto pour se rendre en Europe en vue du départ de la compétition Globe40 d’une durée de huit mois en mer.

À compter de 18 h, elle rencontrera les plus de 150 participantes à la Coupe Fémina, et s’adressera ensuite aux participantes lors de la soirée de remise de prix.

Canadian offshore sailor Melodie Schaffer will stop by the Femina Cup in Quebec City on Saturday, July 5, on her journey from Toronto to Europe for the start of the eight-month Globe40 competition at sea.

Starting at 6 p.m., she will meet the more than 150 women who will be taking part in the Femina Cup, and will then address the participants at the awards ceremony.
