Youth Championships Wrap Up!
Friday, August 18th 2016
The 2016 Youth Championships wrapped up Thursday after 4 days of racing in the Kingston harbour. The wind and weather aligned and delivered quality sailing conditions for over 400 sailors who travelled from across North America to take part in the event, along with sailors from New Zealand, Bahamas, Bermuda, Belize and the British Virgin Islands. The event was hosted at CORK International.
As part of the event, Sail Canada Lead Coach Agustin Ferrario organized a series of after sailing seminars for sailors & coaches. The seminars provided positive learning and discussion opportunities for sailors in different classes. The seminar series included presentations on Sponsorship (David Mori), Laser Downwind Speed (Robert Davis), 420 Maneuvers (Ali ten Hove), 29er Speed Tips (Lauren Laventure) and Youth World Championships (Agustin Ferrario).
The event would not have been possible without a huge amount of work from the team of volunteers and officials who worked effortlessly day after day.
We look forward to seeing Canada’s youth sailors at 2017 Sail Canada Youth Championships at St. Margaret Sailing Club in Nova Scotia!
