World Cup Silver for Bertold - Qingdao, China
Sunday, September 20, 2015 - Qingdao, China
Canadian Radial sailor Isabella Bertold secures her second World Cup medal in Qingdao today. Bertold was sitting 2nd overall heading into the medal race behind China's Dongshuang Zhang. Only 5 points back, Isabella was aiming for Gold however the light breeze and strong current made for a very tense and drawn out finale. Bertold finished 8th in the medal race, 3 points ahead of Bronze medalist Min Gu (CHN). "It feels great to be back to sailing like I know I can. My injury struggles are now a distant memory. I know I still have a lot of work to do, but this is a big step in the right direction. This event was super close racing and while it was stressful at times, I really enjoyed it."
Bertold's last World Cup medal dates back to Miami 2013.
In addition to the hardware around her neck, Isabella will take home her share of the World Cup prize money of 150,000 Euros.
