Weymouth welcomes Canadian 49er & FX teams

WEYMOUTH, ENGLAND – October 23 2014

After the ISAF World Championships, the Canadian Skiff Team moved to windy Weymouth to train for the month of October. Weymouth, being the host of the 2012 Olympic sailing events is a great venue, providing us with the perfect conditions to make some gains in our sailing. During their time there, they spent long hours focusing on boat handling, short course racing and start work in strong breeze. Along with some great training, they have also been able to take advantage of a few more racing opportunities, competing in the UK National Ranking series regattas. Just this past two weekends ago they competed in the 2nd regatta of the series showing some big improvements throughout the team.

On the FX side, Team Rafuse/Boyd finished 2nd and Berry/Merry finishing 3rd overall. For the 49er men's fleet Team Mori/Barnes took home 3rd. These events have been very beneficial for the Canadians, racing against a larger, stronger fleet and putting what we have been working on in training under some pressure. The 49erFX team has are heading home to Canada while the 49er team will continue training, competing at the beginning of November in the 3rd and final regatta of the series in Hayling Island. The Canadian Skiff Team would like to thank Samson Rope for providing with great line and to Helly Hansen for keeping us warm on the water!
