The 2017 Sail Canada AGM & Leader Summit Wrap Up

The 2017 Sail Canada Annual General Meeting and Leader Summit wrapped up last weekend in Toronto, ON. The Sail Canada Board of Directors, Staff, Provincial Sailing Associations, Committees, Coaches and Partner Representatives gathered throughout the week to discuss current affairs and establish working plans for 2018.

After several days of leadership meetings, all members assembled on Friday to collaborate on ways to work “Better Together” towards a successful future.
Being my first AGM and Leadership Summit as the CEO of Sail Canada, I was very pleased with the outcomes of the meetings and the collaboration show by all the delegates from the Coaches Council, the Provincial Executive Directors and Presidents (or President representative), the Training and Certification Committee” said Don Adams, CEO. “We all made a commitment to work better together over the next year to advance each of the strategic pillars and accomplish our planned objectives. I look forward to working with everyone to make it happen”.

The AGM took place on Friday evening, highlighting the main strategic goals, accomplishments, and planned initiatives for the future. The Sail Canada membership elected a President, as well as two Directors at Large.

It is with great pleasure that Sail Canada congratulates Todd Irving on his reelection as President for a 2 year term, while welcoming Alicia Damley and Kate MacLennan to the Board for a 3 year term. The minutes from the meeting can be found here.

Sail Canada would like to extend many thanks to departing Board members: Kai Bjorn and Rich Ballantyne who have shown dedication and commitment to the board over the past few years.

Overall, as mentioned by Sail Canada President, Todd Irving:
The tone and dynamic of the Leadership meetings and AGM this year was the best in years. The conversations around commitment to working "better together" for the benefit of sailing in Canada seemed lively and engaged. The partners, staff and volunteers were talking about positive solutions and positive outcomes. We look forward to the next steps to enact the ideas and harness the energy of the conference while continuing the dialogue with the community at large.
