The first edition of the annual (hopefully) Sail Canada Olympian Regatta will be held Friday, August 14, 2026, at Kingston Yacht Club.
Featuring Canadian Olympians from multiple generations, the Olympian Regatta will showcase a remarkable depth of talent, experience, and competitive spirit. Medalists and non-medalists alike will take to the water for a friendly but spirited competition, creating an event that celebrates not only sailing excellence but also the friendships and connections forged through the sport.

This event will be part of the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Montreal 1976 Games, including the sailing competitions in Kingston. Following the Olympian Regatta on Friday, Sail Canada will present the “Celebration of Sailing: Kingston 1976 Olympic Legacy”. The event will be in Kingston, Ontario, on August 14, starting at 5pm at the Kingston Yacht Club. This casual event, which will feature a barbecue, will be held as part of several other activities in conjunction with the 50th anniversary. SCHEDULE
Friday, August 14, 2026
12pm: lunch, information session and draw of crew members for each team
2pm: racing
5pm: refreshment and debriefing with Ken Dool
5:30pm: “Celebration of Sailing: Kingston 1976 Olympic Legacy” event, including award presentation
BOATS
Races will be held in RS21 boats, each boat including three or four crew members. Teams will be determined through a draw at the start of the day.
COST
The cost is $165, including boat rental, lunch and a free drink. If you would like to attend the “Celebration of Sailing: Kingston 1976 Olympic Legacy”, they are available for an additional $85, including a barbecue and a free drink.

ACCOMODATIONS
Sail Canada secured special rate for rooms for the night of August 14 with two hotels in Kingston. If you would like to know more, please contact Patrick Godbout at patrick@sailing.ca. The group blocks will be held until July 15th, 2026, and any remaining guest rooms in the block will then revert to the hotel for general sale.
