Sailors All Set for Youth Worlds in Gdynia!

July 14th, 2019 - Gdynia, Poland

The 49th World Sailing Youth World Championships has begun in Gdynia, Poland.!

Sailors hit the water yesterday for the first time since arriving in Gdynia to test out the water and their boats. Today, the sailors competed in a practice race followed by opening ceremonies. Racing officially beings tomorrow!

Canada is represented in 3 classes (i420, 29er, Laser Radial), with a total of 10 athletes.

The Canadian roster includes 2 returning team members and 8 new additions:

Laser Radial Girl – Hunter Dejean– ABYC 

Laser Radial Boy – Ryan Anderson– RNSYS

420 Girls – Savannah Taylor (skipper) and Ellie Gillis (crew) – RNSYS

420 Boys – Moritz Heidenreich (skipper) and David Frost (crew) – RNSYS

29er Girls - Morgan Kittson (skipper) and Adrianna Baird (crew) - RSTLYC

29er Boys – Thomas Staples (skipper) and Willam Staples (crew) - RSTLYC

Sailors will be racing in Gdanska Bay, a body of water known for it’s variety of conditions and challenging winds.
