Sailors All Set for Youth Worlds in Corpus Christi

The 48th World Sailing Youth World Championships will begins today, July 14th in Corpus Christi, Texas!

Sailors will hit the water today for the first time since arriving in Corpus Christi to test out the water and their boats. The sailors will be competing in practice race Sunday followed by opening ceremonies, before racing officially starts Monday, July 16th.

Canada is represented in 3 classes (i420, 29er, Laser Radial), with a total of 10 athletes.

The Canadian roster includes 2 returning team members and 8 new additions:
Laser Radial Girl – Hunter Dejean– ABYC
Laser Radial Boy – Tayte Stefaniuk– RNSYS
420 Girls – Tate Howell (skipper) and Madeline Gillis (crew) – RCYC/RNSYS
420 Boys – Jack Groves (skipper) and Alex Fraser (crew) – RNSYS
29er Girls - Audrey Staples (skipper) and Caterina S Kunz (crew) - RSLYC
29er Boys – Will Bonin (skipper) and Alec Biard (crew) - RCYC/ RSLYC
Sailors will be racing in Corpus Christi Bay, a shallow body of water that is known for its sea breeze and chop.
