The Sailing For All program at Lunenburg Yacht Club is part of the club’s commitment to accessibility and inclusion on the water. This year, the club had 7 participants, all with different abilities and goals for their time on the water.
The program has allowed participants to be on a boat and view the scenes of Lunenburg from the water for the first time. The program is almost entirely volunteer run, and these volunteers will say how rewarding it is to be able to facilitate adaptive sailing opportunities. Sailing for All funding this year ensures that everyone, regardless of ability, can experience the joy and freedom of sailing in the Sail Able program. With trained instructors, accessible facilities, and specially equipped boats, Sailing for All creates a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for adult sailors of all ages and skill levels.
Thanks to Sail Canada and the Government of Canada Community Sport for All Initiative for support.
