The Calgary Yacht Club wants to introduce sailing to anyone that is interested in the sport. Thanks to funding from Sail Canada’s “Sailing for All” initiative, the club was able to have six youth participants come to sailing camps this summer. The Sailing for All initiative was able to cover the full cost of these individuals to come to sailing camps at CYC who otherwise would not have had the opportunity to participate in the sport because of barriers such as access, finances or other considerations. Participants included newcomers to Canada, youth from low income households and individuals facing other barriers. These families were so grateful to be able to come and try sailing, get more comfortable in the water, build life skills and meet new friends.
