Sail Canada Instructor Certification Accommodation

March 26, 2020

Sail Canada is making every effort to ensure that Sailing in the summer of 2020 is as accessible to every instructor as possible. With the closure of most clubs and schools in Canada during our busiest certification and recertification period, we have decided to make several accommodations for these extenuating circumstances. Our emphasis will be on ensuring that new instructor evaluations are the focus, and recertifications are granted. Please note, these extensions will be through application to Sail Canada or your Provincial Sailing Association.

  1. If you have prerequisites expired after Dec. 31, 2019, and are unable to renew them online or in a safe environment, Sail Canada or your provincial sailing association will extend them to Dec. 31, 2020 so that you can register for the year.
    This includes;

    1. Standard First Aid and CPR C
    2. Boat Safety
  2. If you have an expired instructor level, requiring recertification by evaluation, Sail Canada or your Provincial Sailing Association will extend your level to Dec. 31, 2020.
