Sail Canada Board Member Zac Baum Receives the Agnes Benidickson Tricolour Award
Saturday, April 6th, 2019 - Toronto, ON
Sail Canada Board Member, Zac Baum is being recognized today at Queen’s University for the Tricolour Award. The Tricolour Award and induction into the Tricolour Society is the highest tribute that can be paid to a student of Queen's University for valuable and distinguished service to the University in non-academic and non-athletic activities. Such service may have been confined to a single field, or it may have taken the form of a significant contribution over a wide range of activities.
A transformative leader who has worked tirelessly to put Queen’s School of Computing on the map, Zac has been key in recruiting students to Queen’s while simultaneously strengthening the programming. Zac comments;
“When I heard that I had received the award, I initially thought about those who I heard had nominated and supported my nomination – many of whom are friends, staff and faculty from the School of Computing and through other connections at Queen's.
The fact that they saw the three tenets of the award in what I’ve done while at Queen’s — character, service, leadership —it was incredibly humbling and comforting to know how these people thought of the work I’ve done, none of which was ever done with the intent of winning any awards or receiving recognition for it, but for the joy and pleasure of doing it, being involved and getting to meet new people and have new experiences.”
Congratulations to Zac on receiving this prestigious award.
