Rio Olympians set to turn up the heat in Miami – Miami Sailing World Cup 2017

The charming ‘Grove’ in Miami, Florida is set to welcome 2020 Olympic hopefuls aiming to make their mark on the first World Cup Sailing Event of 2017.

Among the 453 sailors racing out of Regatta Park at Coconut Grove, Miami from January 22-29 are Canadian Olympians Brenda Bowskill (Radial), Tom Ramshaw (Finn), Erin Rafuse and Danielle Boyd (49erFX). The Miami Sailing World Cup will mark the first major regatta for all Canadian Olympians since Rio in August. “I’ve turned the notch up in the gym and had a very productive camp here in Miami a few weeks ago with Team USA,” said Brenda Bowskill. “I’m excited to compete again and continue to build on my performance in Rio.”

Miami World Cup will be packed with a star-studded line up including Brazilian sailing legend Robert Scheidt who is set to rig up in the 49er with Gabriel Borges. That’s right, another new boat for the 43 year old, following his Olympic medals in the Star and Laser. Remarkable.

The Laser, Laser Radial, Finn and will have six days of fleet racing from Tuesday 24 January which will culminate in LIVE medal races on Sunday 29 January while competitors in the 49er, 49er FX, and RS:X will have five days of fleet racing from Tuesday 24 January to Friday 27 January with LIVE medal races on Saturday 28 January.
