High Performance Staff Update
Tuesday, October 6, 2015 - Kingston, ON
Sail Canada’s Development Team Manager Chris Cook is resigning from Sail Canada to pursue other interests outside of sport. Chris, a world class Finn sailor, represented Canada in the 2008 Olympic Games, finishing 5th overall. Since 2012, Chris has been coaching Sail Canada’s Laser Radial and Finn teams, while also developing the next generation of young Canadian sailors. Chris established the partner coach network, linking provincial coaches to the Sail Canada program.
Sail Canada’s High Performance Director Ken Dool comments, “In his time with Sail Canada, many Canadian sailors and coaches have benefited from Chris Cook’s considerable talent, passion and commitment to sailing excellence. We wish Chris the best of luck in his new career and hope that it will allow him to maintain his coaching interests."
“Having spent my entire adult life pursuing excellence in the sport of sailing as well as working to spread my passion and love for the sport, I have decided to make my departure from Sail Canada to be closer to my family and pursue a career outside of sport” says Cook. "I know there is a great deal of my work left undone but I am confident that I have created some positive momentum for the future.”
Sail Canada’s Board and staff wish Chris the very best in his new pursuit.
