Helly Hansen National YOTS Kicks Off Today at POH

The Helly Hansen Sail Canada National Youth Olympic Training Seminar (YOTS) kicks off today at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour (POH) in Kingston, ON.
Over 80 sailors from across the country, will spend the next three days training in Kingston with 14 of the Countries top coaches. Canadian Sailing Team alumni and 2016 Rio Olympian, Erin Rafuse is the lead event coach.
Sailors will be training in the Radial, i420 and 29er classes in preparation for the Canadian Youth Championships at CORK International which takes place from August 12th - 16th at POH.
The three - day clinic involves on-water training, a local weather talk, a mental performance talk, and two guest speakers.
On Saturday, two time Olympian Martha McCabe will be in Kingston to share her sports experience and the importance of a building resilience with the sailors.
McCabe competed in the London 2012 Olympic Games where she finished fifth in the 200m breaststroke and was subsequently named 2012 Female Swimmer of the Year at Swimming Canada’s Big Splash Awards. A year earlier McCabe found her place amongst the world’s elite by winning bronze at the 2011 FINA World Championships.
Experiences skiff coach and Canadian Sailing Team Alumni John Ladha will be speaking to the sailors on Sunday.
