Day 7: Finn and Nacra finish Olympic Sailing competition Sunday, August 14, 2016 – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The Canadian Finn and Nacra sailors saw the early end to their Olympic competition yesterday with qualifying rounds complete. Both the Nacra and Finn missed the top ten medal race cut off.

“It’s been a crazy ride,” says Ramshaw onshore. “When I switched to the Finn, it was my goal to qualify for the Olympic Games so meeting that goal was a big deal. When I got here, I wanted to do more”. I felt really good on the first day and then got a couple unlucky shifts that resulted in some bad scores. I was down in the standings and my head got the better of me.”

While Ramshaw is disappointed with his overall result in Rio, he is driven to make his mark in Tokyo 2020. “This event has really motivated me for 2020. I realize that I am not as fast as I need to be and haven’t had enough time in the boat and I’m really excited to train and improve on that before my next major competition. I am happy to have had this experience and it has taught me that I have some work to do.  I need to close that gap between qualifying for the Olympics and performing at the top. I know what it takes. It takes time and I didn’t have much time.

Canadian Nacra wrap up their Olympic competition early yesterday in 15th overall.  "Sometimes it goes your way, sometimes it doesn't. We gave it our all, were 100% prepared but this week just didn't go our way. It's definitely a disappointment for our team, however it doesn't reflect our tenacity and what we are actually capable of."

Team Canada results after Day 7:

Racing is scheduled today for 470 Men, and 49erFX. Medal racing is being held for Laser and Radial.
