Chris Carberry - Cultus Lake, BC

September 2017 - Chris Carberry of Cultus Lake Sailing Club in BC

At Cultus Lake and with BC Sailing, Chris Carberry has done it all! He’s been running Learn-to-Sail Programs, boat repairs, building new sails, replacing docks, repairing trailers, washing lifejackets, and the list goes on!

Chris shows incredible passion for sailing by helping sailing clubs and communities start programs for people new to sailing. He will lend out boats (Tasars) to get kids on the water - sailing with kids himself, laughing the whole while. Carberry gets the kids excited to hike and steer, always right there with them, making them feel comfortable and confident with their first experiences.

Chris goes out of his way to encourage First Nations children & youth to get into sailing - spending hours and hours, day after day - volunteering his time to talk to community & public school classes, visiting organizations and inviting the new participants to sail with him at the small Cultus Lake club. This year Chris volunteered to administer BC Sailing’s Moss Program in 2017…. a huge undertaking!

Chris has a passion and drive to bring people into sailing – we all admire that! Thank you, Chris!

The Cultus Lake Sailing Club is a Member Club & Registered CANSail Training Site with BC Sailing & Sail Canada. CLSC delivers CANSail Dinghy Programming and runs races for their members and sailors, and hosts a Youth Race Team, active on the BC Sailing Race Circuit.
