Born and raised in Vancouver, Fillah is one of Canada’s top Laser Sailors. During his childhood, he experimented with a variety of sports before deciding to quit everything else to focus solely on sailing at age 11. Drawn in by a passion for being on the water, and fueled by his competitive spirit and the pursuit of excellence, Fillah set his sights firmly on representing Canada at the Olympic Games. In 2015, upon graduating from high school, he chose to take an unconventional path and immediately devote himself to his sport full-time. A couple years later, in 2018, Fillah was first selected to the Canadian National Team. Over the years, he has had the opportunity to train or compete in 19 different countries on 5 continents. Coming from an immigrant family, Fillah is eternally grateful for the opportunities that Canada has given to him and his family. He is proud and honored to represent Canada on the world stage and hopes to one day bring home an Olympic medal.
