The competition will be held July 11-12
Kingston, July 8, 2026 – Over 160 sailors, 24 coaches and 70 volunteers will be in action this weekend, July 11-12, at the Ashbridge’s Bay Yacht Club (ABYC), as they will take part in Sail Canada 2026 Sail Central Championships.
The competition will be held during the “Seahorse Regatta”. Competitors will be in action in the U15 Optimist class and U21 for the Club 420, ILCA 4, and ILCA 6 classes.
Training clinic to start the weekend
Sail Canada Sail Central Championships will start with a training clinic on Friday, July 10, from 9:30am to 4pm. This day will feature Canadian 49erFX Olympian Danielle Boyd. A Rule 42 session will be delivered by National Judge Wendy Loat and International Judge Andrew Alberti. Races for Sail Central are scheduled to start both days at 11am.
Sail Canada Sail Central event is part of a series of seven Sail Canada National and Regional Championships to be held this summer. These competitions provide a chance for sailors to train and compete with high-level sailors in their region, in addition to serving as talent identification opportunities for regional and provincial sailing teams, as development and mentoring opportunities for coaches, as well as training and development opportunities for officials and volunteers.
