Announcing the 2019 Canadian Youth Worlds Team!

It is once again time for the Youth Sailing World Championships! The championships host rotation has brought the event to the northern hemisphere making it a summer event for our Canadian sailors. The Youth Worlds Team will be travelling to Poland’s sailing capital, Gdynia for the 49th edition of the Youth Sailing World Championships. Sailors will be competing on Gdanska Bay for the 5 days of racing.
Sail Canada is pleased to announce that it has selected the Canadian Youth World team that will be representing Canada at this event.
The Canadian roster includes 2 returning team members and 8 new additions:
Laser Radial Girl – Hunter Dejean– OST/ABYC
Laser Radial Boy – Ryan Anderson – RNSYS
i420 Girls – Savannah Taylor (skipper) and Elsie Gillis (crew) – RNSYS
i420 Boys – Mortiz Heidenreich (skipper) and David Frost (crew) – RNSYS
29er Girls - Morgan Kittson (skipper) and Adrianna Baird (crew) - RStLYC
29er Boys – Thomas Staples (skipper) and William Staples (crew) - RStLYC
Lead Coach - Agustin Ferrario (RNSYS)
Team Coach - Stephen Waldie (RStLYC)
Team Leader - Katie Yeo
These sailors will be training diligently over the next few months to ensure that they are in top form for the World Championships. Last year’s event in Corpus Christi, Texas, saw tough competition and a range of conditions, challenging over 400 youth sailors. We are excited to see what this year’s event has in store for the sailors!
