Announcing the 2017 Canadian Youth World Team
Canadian youth sailors will make the long journey to Sanya, China from December 9th - 16th, 2017 to compete in the 47th annual World Sailing Youth World Championships. Sail Canada is pleased to announce that it has selected the Canadian Youth World team that will be representing Canada at this event, led by Team Leader Agustin Ferrario. “The competition in Canada for Youth Worlds has been tough, which only makes our selected athletes stronger when competing against the other 60 nations. We are very excited for the challenge ahead!” Sailors will be racing in the waters off Hainan Island, with 400 sailors from 60 nations expected.
The Canadian roster includes 4 returning team members and 6 new additions:
Laser Radial Girl – Clara Gravely – OST
Laser Radial Boy – Ryan Anderson – RNSYS
420 Girls – Georgia Lewin-LaFrance (skipper) and Madeline Gillis (crew) – RNSYS
420 Boys – Pat Wilson (skipper) and Arie Moffat (crew) – RNSYS/KYC
29er Boys – William Bonin (skipper) and Samuel Bonin (crew) - RCYC
Nacra 15 - Theodora Horangic (Skipper) and Helen Horangic (crew) - RNSYS
These sailors will be training diligently over the next few months to ensure that they are in top form for the World Championships.
