Born in Burlington, Ontario, Sarah started sailing at the age of 7 on the island of Barbados. She sailed the Optimist and competed in North American and World Championships before the age of 15. After outgrowing the Optimist, Sarah returned to Canada, moved in to the Laser Radial class and was quickly one of the top youth sailors in Canada. In 2010, an opportunity was presented to qualify Canada and represent the country at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. After coming second at the 2010 Youth Nationals, Sarah los tthe love of competing and decided to coach youth athletes at Ahsbridge's Bay Yacht Club for two summers. Sarah was re-inspired by Canadian Olympians to pursue her dream of winning an Olympic medal. Sarah returned to competitive sailing in the Laser Radial in 2014. Sarah then qualified for the Canadian Sailing Team as a senior athlete in 2015.

Having completed a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing Management at the Univesity of Guelph in 2017, Sarah is sailing full time to campaign for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in the Laser Radial class.
