2017 Women's Keelboat Championships
Sail Canada is pleased to announce that the Lunenburg Yacht Club (LYC) will be hosting the 2017 Women’s Keelboat Championships. The LYC, located in Lunenburg, NS, has achieved a strong reputation in the sailing community, and has a long history of hosting successful regattas. Its portfolio includes the 2014 Sonar North Americans, the 2002 Volvo World Youth Sailing Championships, as well as the 2008, 2011, and 2014 Canadian National Optimist Sailing Championships. Additionally, LYC was recently selected to host the 2017 Sonar World Championships.
The Lunenburg Yacht Club has been part of the south shore sailing community since 1947, and is situated on the waters of Mahone Bay with easy access to some of the best cruising waters in North America. The Club has a solid relationship with Sail Nova Scotia, and aims to provide quality programming and support for its members and visitors, as well as host world-class regattas. The LYC will be chartering their fleet of 15 Sonar keelboats to Sail Canada for the Women’s Keelboat event.
The Women’s Keelboat Championship is a national event that is open to competitors across the country. It is hosted annually, rotating through the western, central, and eastern regions of Canada. Typically, it is held between mid-August and mid-September, lasting four days: one day of training, and three days of racing.
We look forward to seeing the LYC host an exceptional event.
