2011 CYA Sail West offers more than sailor training and a U17 Championship in the Opti and Olympic Development Classes...

The event brings with it a full menu of leader training opportunities for persons from the Gimili community, the province of Manitoba and the Western region of Canada to gain national accreditation to support the sport of sailing!
 
Race Management Training:
  • A CYA Assistant Race Officer Seminar (1st level programming) on Thursday, August 4th from 5pm-9pm. CYA Race Management Course Conductor is Peter van Muyden from Alberta, an International Race Officer.   
Judge Training:
Did you know that CYA Judge training and certification is required for CYA Assistant and Club RACE OFFICERS developing toward accrediation as a CYA National Race Officer??
  • A CYA Judge Clinic is being offered on Day 1 of Sail West (Thursday, August 4th) from 9am-5pm. CYA Judge Seminar Leader is Lynne Beal from Ontario, an International Judge.
  • This clinic is perfect for CYA Club level Judges to advance toward Regional level accreditation, and any level CYA Race Management Officer.
Instructor Training: 
  • A CYA Community Instructor Clinic is being run on Thursday, August 4th from 930am - 4pm. CYA Learning Facilitator will be Jennifer Grierson from BC. 
  • This training offers accrediation to any persons hoping to assist and support the delivery of CYA Sailor Training Programming at Yacht Clubs, Sailing Schools and camps
     
All training courses will take place at the Gimli Yacht Club and will include an on-water practical component on Friday, August 5th from 2pm-4pm.
