North Okanagan Sailing Association (NOSA) has an opening for a sail school administrator / coach for a seasonal full time summer position in 2013 commencing May 1st. Reporting to NOSA’s CANSail Director, the successful candidate will provide administrative support to the CANSail Instructors who coach Youth & Adult CANsail program for the summer 2013 ( June 1st to August 31st ). This is a great opportunity for a post secondary / university student with previous Learn to Sail or CANSail coach experience to gain valuable administrative experience delivering the summer sailing school program, with a team of CANSail 1&2 and 3&4 instructor(s). NOSA is offering a full time seasonal position at its waterfront facility next to Paddle Wheel Park on the Vernon Arm of Okanagan Lake, Vernon, British Columbia.
NOSA’s sail school program includes water safety presentations to 300+ elementary school (Grade 5 - 12) students, Introduction to Sailing sessions to Grade 8+ classes, Navy Cadet sailing program in May/June and CANSail 1 through to 4 through June – August to 150 youth and 100 adults.
The successful candidates will :
- • be a minimum adult age of 19 years to be the adult in charge of the program,
- • hold a current St. Johns Ambulance Standard First Aid with CPR certification (or equivalent),
- • be experienced in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint,
- • have previous experience with the CANSail program as it will be considered an asset.
Previous sailing school experience and current CANSail 1-4 coach certification is considered a definite asset that the Candidate brings to the position. Candidates returning to post secondary / trade school in September 2013 (a criteria of federal student employment grant ) will also be considered an asset of the successful candidate.
As the Sailing School delivers program to youth, the successful candidate will provide NOSA with a RCMP Police Record Check (PRC) prior to commencement of employment. Financial compensation is commensurate with experience and current certifications.
