The Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron (RNSYS) is accepting applications for a knowledgeable 420 coach with international racing experience for the 2013 season. Located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the RNSYS offers Atlantic Canada’s most competitive sailing programs and is home to many world-class sailors.
The role of the Coach is to provide leadership and coaching to the RNSYS’ high performance 420 racing team from mid June through the beginning of September, 2013.
The ideal Coach will have significant international-level racing experience in the International 420 class or similar double handed classes, coupled with at least three (3) years of 420 high performance coaching experience (ideally at the International 420 class level). S/He will also have excellent organizational, time management, communication and motivational skills while also demonstrating tremendous initiative, resourcefulness and an ability to work with minimal supervision.
As the Coach you will be responsible to develop training and competitive programs for the high performance 420 athletes and travel with team members to identified regattas. You will also work closely with coaches from the RNSYS and other clubs.
Travel to regattas in Canada and the United States along with training camps and meetings will be required. The schedule also includes athlete program management, active coaching, program administration and meetings with volunteers. This is a full time contract position from mid June to early September, 2013. Salary for the position is $1100 per week, some evening and weekend work will be required.
