At the Canadian Yachting Association’s annual general meeting, which took place on Saturday, October 27th, a resolution to change the CYA’s name was considered by the representatives of the CYA membership. The original motion for Sailing Canada was modified to Sail Canada following a friendly amendment approved by the voting representatives. When the amended motion was put to the meeting, it was carried by an overwhelming majority. The organization will now be known as Sail Canada / Voile Canada, a move that brings the 81 year old organization in line with most of the other Canadian national governing bodies in the sport.
The move, which was prompted by a renewed effort of collaboration with the CYA’s provincial partners, will improve the branding and awareness opportunities in the key areas of training, coaching, officiating and high performance disciplines and will allow the organization to focus on continuing to deliver and enhance all the programs offered including sailing, cruising, powerboating and navigation.
The official use of the names Sail Canada and Voile Canada will commence in compliance with the legal requirements of the Canada Corporations Act. The development of the rollout plan is in progress.
The Sail Canada logo is comprised of 2 basic elements: The Symbol and the Wordmark.
Use of the logo is to be in compliance with the Sail Canada branding guidelines. Please contact for more information.
