The Canadian Yachting Association is pleased to deliver Regional and National competitions across Canada. Be sure to visit the National Competition schedule at www.sailing.ca as you plan your regatta schedule for the upcoming season! Events taking place in 2011 include:
 
Canadian Women’s National Keelboat Championship, June 3rd – 5th 2011
The Canadian Women’s National Keelboat Championships will take place June 3rd – 5th 2011 at the Hudson Yacht Club in Hudson QC. The annual event, sponsored by MacDougall MacDougall and McTier, is a great opportunity for Canadian Sailing Team members, provincial athletes, club members, and general sailing enthusiasts to come together and partake in a national event. This year’s event will be sailed in J22’s and includes a clinic on Friday June 3rd.
 
Canadian Eastern U17 Championships, CYA Sail East, August 4th – 7th 2011     
The Canadian Eastern U17 Championships will take place at CYA Sail East, hosted by Able Sail at the Shediac Bay Yacht Club, in Shediac New Brunswick. The event begins  with a two day training clinic on August 4th & 5th lead by a CYA appointed coach focused on delivery coaching to the appropriate stages of Canada’s Long Term Sailor Development module. The weekend brings two days of racing on August 6th & 7th, with an overall focus on the promotion and development of top level racing and race management at a regional level. Classes to be sailed include Optimist, Laser, Radial, 4.7, 420, 29er and an open class. Awards will be presented to all classes including awards for overall placement, U17 placement, top male and top female.
 
Canadian Western U17 Championships, CYA Sail West, August 4th – 7th 2011
The Canadian Western U17 Championships will take place at CYA Sail West, hosted by the Gimli Yacht Club, in Gimli, Manitoba. The event consists of a two day training clinic lead by a CYA appointed coach, who will focus on delivering coaching to the appropriate stages of Canada’s Long Term Sailor Development module. Coaching will continue throughout the regatta with racing scheduled for August 6th & 7th with briefings and de-briefings for all sailors each day.
 
This year’s event will include the 2.4m and Martin 16 classes for the first time, along with the return of the windsurfing fleet. Other classes include Optimist, 4.7, Radial, Laser, 420, 29er and an open class for other fleets. Awards will be presented to all classes including awards for overall placement, U17 placement, top male and top female.
 
Canadian Youth National Sailing Championships, August 27th – September 1st 2011
St. Margaret Sailing Club in Glen Haven, Nova Scotia will play host to the 2011 CYA Youth National Championships, taking place from August 29th to September 1st 2011. The 2011 Youth National Sailing Championships will kick off with two days of Youth Olympic Training Seminar (YOTS) - August 27th & 28th followed by four days of championship racing. This is a qualifier for Canadians to the 2012 Canadian Youth World Sailing Team.
 
Canadian Match Racing Championships, September 23rd – 25th 2011
The Royal Canadian Yacht Club will play host to the ISAF match rank 3 Canadian Match Race Championships. The racing will take place in supplied Sonars. As many as 9 skippers will be invited. Only skippers invited by the Organizing Authority (OA) will be eligible to enter this event. Invitations will be reserved for the top 4 ranked Canadian skippers as of the July 6, 2011 ISAF match race rankings. The remaining 5 invitations will be allocated by the Canadian Yachting Association and the OA.
 
Canadian National Sailing Championships, September 27th – October 1st 2011
The 2011 Canadian National Sailing Championships will take place at St. Margaret Sailing Club in Glen Haven, Nova Scotia from September 27th to October 1st. SMSC, also host to the 2011 Canadian Youth National Sailing Championships, played host to the 2009 Laser Worlds during which they hosted over 500 sailors from around the world.
