Another milestone has been reached by Canadian sailor Irene McNeill, who recently gained certification as an International Race Officer (IRO) making her Canada's first ever Female IRO. Becoming an IRO is the culmination of many years of experience running races and Irene is proud to have achieved this goal. Irene credits her continued involvement in sailboat officiating to her early mentors - SC Senior National Race Officers, Janet Willings and Carole Pearcy.
Irene’s family – husband Neil and daughters Erin and Amy – are all very proud of her as well. Being associated with the Canadian Race Management program for almost 25 years, she qualified as a Sail Canada (SC) Senior National Race officer in 2002 and a US Regional Race officer in 2006. Since 1996, Irene has also trained many race officers in her province of Ontario as a SC Race Management Course Conductor. Irene looks forward to representing Canada within the international sailing community and inspiring other sailing enthusiasts to achieve their own race management goals.
