The 2009 Soling World Championships wrapped up on Friday the 20th of September with long-time Soling competitors Bill Abbott, Joanne Abbott and Paul Davis securing the overall title on the strength of three consecutive bullets over the last three races of the event. The German team of Koch/Koch/Bornemann kept things close, closing the event with 2 second place finishes to finish 2nd overall 3 points in arrears of the Canadian boat.
The who’s who of Canadian Soling over the recent past rounded out the top 4 with the team of Peter Hall, Phillip Kerrigan and Gavin Flinn taking the third step on the podium with Canadian sailing legend Hans Fogh sailing with Roger Cheer and Greg Devries finishing fourth. The Etobicoke Yacht Club put on a quality event across a range of conditions for the 24 teams representing 5 nations.
