 Over the past weeks Sail Canada has delivered two pilot training modules of the Coaching Athletes with a Disability Module. The module provides participants with the opportunity to learn about the nature of disabilities and their potential sailing-specific impact, basics of accessibility and inclusion, and ways to adapt equipment and teaching techniques to accommodate a variety of sailor needs. The majority of the module is ‘hands on’, allowing coaches learn how to rig specialized assistive equipment, transfer sailors into boats, and spend time sailing in Martin 16s  both as helms and as companions.
