Navigation Courses

Advanced Navigation Standard covers navigational theory beyond Coastal Navigation. Topics include standard radio navigation systems, radar and GPS, electronic chart display information, and weather for extended cruising voyages.

Celestial Navigation covers the theory required to navigate safely on offshore passages. This theory is applied in the offshore standard.

Instructor Standards

Coastal Navigation Instructor Standard are authorized to certify the Coastal Navigation student standard provided they are currently registered with the CYA.

Advanced Navigation Instructor Standard are authorized to certify the coastal and advanced navigation student standards provided they are currently registered with the CYA.

Celestial Navigation Instructor Standard are authorized to certify the Celestial Navigation student standard provided they are currently registered with the CYA.
